MULTOS, the first, open, high security, multi-application operating system for smartcards that is rapidly emerging as a leading vehicle for making payments and customer relations management, is an area in which OYTEK is particularly adept. Thanks to MULTOS, advanced smartcard solutions can now be securely supported under a wide range of applications rather than a single one that is closed to innovation while it is in use. The most important feature of MULTOS is that in addition to already loaded applications, others can be added at any stage on the same card: that is, while the card is in use, new software can be downloaded to it via the internet, POS, or ATM and existing software can also be removed.
Keeping abreast of these new developments, OYTEK has been focusing its attentions on multi-application operating system technologies and has become the sole authorized representative in Turkey and neighboring countries for the MULTOS and other cards of Keycorp, a global provider of secure electronic transaction solutions.
As a smartcard operating system, MULTOS is considered to be the best and most secure. A MULTOS card uses a single chip for both contact and contactless interfaces, providing a contact or contactless use, or a mixed use of both interfaces.
Contact applications
Data security and integrity are achieved by the MULTOS firewall by providing effective memory management and inter-application information exchange.

Widely used Mifare technology provides rapid, compatible communication with readers that are currently in use.
Thus MULTOS and Mifare can share and individually use the same information on a single chip and both can be altered.
MULTOS is the only smartcard system, which provides complete control for all smartcard applications and which has been designed with a fully open system architecture. It was designed to meet the ITSEC E6 evaluation level, the highest level of security in information systems.

An important issue in smartcard systems is the personalization of the cards that are to be used. While this is a process that demands the use of extremely complex technologies, the DataCard company's Affina platform management architecture makes this very easy.
